Ethoshopper is simply the combination of the words ‘ethos’ and shopper. This brilliant name arose while considering the problems of consumerism in the modern world. Honestly, I was surprised the name wasn’t already being used. Ethoshopper brings you unique products that show you care. You don’t just talk the talk you walk the walk! |

Who is behind Ethoshopper ? |

Ethoshopper was created by me- Jacob Sherman. In a prior life I worked as a New York City lawyer. Events in the world at large and in my personal world made determined to put my dreams into action. I sold everything, bought my first motorcycle and left NYC on May 2006. It was supposed to be a one year off thing but it turned into two years. You can read about it at www.motorcycleramblings.com. I returned to New York in May 2008 with renewed energy fueled my having accomplished of which most people only dream. |

Why Ethoshopper ? |

Ethoshopper was my way encourage consumers to focus their desires for more valuable products. I want to show people the joy of buying better and buying less. Yes, I want people to buy less. I want my products to me something that is treasured. You may have many items of cheap items made in China or elsewhere and use it only a short time. I want Ethoshopper products to be the item you want to take with you or put on. It should be something you know looks good and will be a surefire conversation starter.
We can’t sell a lot of our products but we want the few items to be treasured. Our products cost more because we pay our artisans well. We do not want them to be pressured to produce high volume. Isn’t that better than shopping at Walmart. |

Are you Fair Trade Certified ? |

Not yet because we are under one year old we cannot apply for certification. However, this is our goal. Every purchase helps us reach this goal to pass the screening process. We do carry many Fair Trade items. Additionally, after we become Fair Trade certified, we intend bring new products under our label including those we now sell. This is my long range goal because we I am not satisfied with the current overall quality of Fair Trade products. |

What does Fair Trade Certified mean ? |

Fair Trade is a concept that all parties in the economic market should be treated according to certain standard, rather than permitting those with more economic power to dictate all the terms of the market. There are several certifying organizations who grant the use of their certification label subject to their requirements. The three main organizations are Transfair, Fair Trade Federation (USA) and World Fair Trade Organization (Europe). |

Packaging materials |

We either reuse packing material from prior shipments or use eco-friendly packaging materials from our suppier Atlantic Packaging (www.greenpackaging.com). |

Shipping of ceramics |

Shipping ceramics is very tricky. It requires a lot of work and packing material. This is reflected in the shipping cost. However, if you live in the New York tri-state area I will deliver your order personally for free or a minimum charge!!! |
